Most people don’t think of flax as a flower, but the seed had to come from somewhere. The flax is actually not only a flower, but it is the national flower of Belarus and it is a well known flower in Ireland also. There are all kinds of uses for the flax, aside form the fact that it does give off a pretty flower, and most of these uses are either nutritional uses or ones that are medicinal. So, the flax plant can actually be found in the Mediterranean all the way to India, today it is grown in many other areas, but that is where it is local too. The flax plant has been around forever and was being grown in ancient Ethiopia and Egypt in 30,000 BC, if not earlier. The flax plant is an annual, so it has to be replanted each year. IT grows about 3 or 4 feet talk and it has very long leaves. What a lot of people don’t know is that the flax plant actually gives off a really nice light blue flower that looks great; sometimes it can even be seen in bright reds too. There is a fruit that comes of it too and that is where the nutrients come from.
